Authority
The Sheet Metal Polisher is selected and appointed by the Shop Floor Supervisor and has been delegated the authority necessary to successfully accomplish all duties and responsibilities of this position.

Education
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
One or more years of experience in metal polishing, grinding, finishing, fabrication, or related manufacturing environment preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Ability

Ability to read and comprehend drawings, work orders, and procedures written in English

Ability to use measuring tools and inspect surface finishes to specification
-
Experience operating polishing, grinding, buffing, and finishing equipment
-
Willingness and ability to perform manual labor in a production environment
-
Basic reading, writing, and math skills

Frequent walking, standing, kneeling, bending, and reaching

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly

Ability to use hands and arms continuously for polishing and finishing operations
Working Conditions

Primarily indoor production environment

Regular exposure to noise, dust, metal particles, and polishing compounds

Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Noise levels are typically loud and may be higher in certain production areas
Duties and Responsibilities
-
Polish, grind, and buff sheet metal parts to meet customer finish specifications
-
Remove weld marks, scratches, burrs, and surface imperfections
-
Inspect finished surfaces for quality, uniformity, and compliance with standards
-
Operate and maintain polishing tools, grinders, buffers, and related equipment
-
Prepare parts for subsequent processes (coating, assembly, or shipment)
-
Properly clock in and out of job packets/orders to ensure accurate routing times and job costing

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
-
Follow company quality system procedures and documentation requirements
-
Identify and report defects, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately
-
Recommend process improvements for safety, quality, and efficiency
-
Conserve materials and supplies to minimize waste
-
Provide hands-on training to coworkers as needed
-
Perform additional duties as assigned by management
